Independent Higher Education, in partnership with Advance HE, is pleased to offer this practical workshop for higher education leaders taking their first steps into governance roles. It is also recommended for providers currently going through the OfS registration process, where boards and leadership teams are required to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of higher education regulation.
The workshop will cover:
- An introduction to the wider higher education policy environment and how current and future challenges impact governance in small and specialist providers
- The responsibilities of governors, trustees and non-executive directors, including the relationship between governing body and executive
- The principles of good governance in higher education, including fiscal responsibility and regulatory oversight
- The skills, competencies and behaviours that support effective higher education leadership
This session is suitable for those joining governing bodies, academic boards and other governance committees for the first time.
